The English Oak (Quercus robur) is one of our favourite ornamental trees. The broad reaching branches can be left from ground level or pruned at the trunk to allow access under the tree.The new lobed leaves in spring are bright green and then darken as the season progresses. In autumn, they turn yellow and brown before falling. Acorns ripen in summer. A great long-lived tree for large gardens, farms, paddocks, and parks. Drought tolerant once established and tolerates most soil types.
